Vintage Outdoor Wall Light
A Tall Black Lantern with Clear Glass and Vintage Architectural Character
Designed around the familiar proportions of a traditional exterior lantern, this wall light combines a tall 22.8″ / 58 cm silhouette with matte-black aluminium alloy and clear glass. The result is a fixture with strong vintage character that remains restrained enough for both traditional and contemporary architecture.
The transparent glazing keeps the selected bulb visible within the frame, allowing the light source to contribute directly to the finished appearance. Compatible with E26 / E27 LED or Edison-style bulbs up to 60W, the fixture is suited to porches, courtyards, patios, balconies, garages, hallways and entryways.
Design & Material
Traditional lantern proportions with a cleaner architectural frame
The fixture draws on traditional outdoor lantern forms while keeping the metal framework comparatively minimal. Its tall proportions provide enough visual weight for entrances and larger exterior walls without excessive ornamentation.
Aluminium alloy forms the structural body while transparent glass encloses the light source without obscuring it. The clear glazing preserves the visual impact of decorative LED or Edison-style bulbs.
Dimensions
Tall proportions for entrances and exterior façades
The fixture measures Ø 7.9″ × H 22.8″ / Ø 20 × H 58 cm, giving it a substantial vertical presence suitable for larger entrance walls, porches and exterior architectural surfaces.

Lighting Character
Clear glazing places the bulb at the centre of the composition
The transparent glass allows the selected bulb to remain clearly visible, making bulb shape and filament design an important part of the finished appearance.
The E26 / E27 socket supports compatible LED or Edison-style bulbs up to 60W, providing flexibility when selecting the final lighting character.
Placement
Designed for porches, courtyards and architectural entryways
Outdoor Performance
Weather-resistant construction for exterior installation
The fixture is described as weather resistant and suitable for outdoor installation, with an aluminium alloy body and transparent glass construction intended for porches, patios, courtyards, garages and balconies.
The supplied source contains an IP-rating discrepancy: the feature list states IP65, while the technical specifications state IP55. The applicable waterproof rating should therefore be confirmed before installation in the intended location.
Installation
Hardwired wall mounting for a permanent lantern installation
The fixture is designed for wall-mounted hardwired installation and operates across AC 110–240V.
Professional installation recommended. Electrical installation should be completed by a suitably qualified electrician and in accordance with applicable local electrical requirements.
Before exterior installation, confirm the applicable IP rating and ensure the mounting position and electrical connection are appropriate for the intended location.
Care
Maintaining the matte-black metalwork and clear glass
Switch off power before cleaning. Remove surface dust and exterior residue using a soft, dry or lightly dampened cloth, and clean the glass gently to maintain its clarity.
Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemical cleaners that may affect the Matte Black finish or scratch the transparent glass.

Outdoor Wall Lights
Common Questions
Outdoor wall lights mount directly onto an exterior wall surface. They're used at front doors, garage walls, side entries, alfresco areas, fences, and along exterior hallways — providing focused ambient or security lighting at eye level. They work equally well as a single statement fixture or in pairs flanking a door or gate.
Yes, but the level of weather protection varies by product. Look for IP44 minimum for sheltered or covered wall positions, and IP65 or higher for walls fully exposed to rain and direct weather. Coastal properties should look for fixtures with a marine-grade or corrosion-resistant finish. The IP rating is listed on every product page.
They mount onto an exterior wall and hardwire into a 120V (US) or 240V (AU) junction box. Most fixtures come with a backplate that covers the junction box. We recommend a licensed electrician for all hardwired outdoor installations, particularly where new cabling or weatherproof conduit is required.
This varies by product. Many of our outdoor wall lights use integrated LED — no bulb required. Where a replaceable bulb is needed, the compatible type, wattage, and fitting size are listed on the product page. Never exceed the maximum wattage stated for the fixture.
Match the finish to your existing door hardware, hinges, and house numbers for a cohesive look. Matte black suits contemporary and industrial exteriors. Brushed nickel or chrome works well with modern coastal and hamptons styles. Antique brass or bronze suits federation, colonial, and traditional brick homes. All available finishes are shown on each product page.
Yes. Many of our outdoor wall lights can be paired with a motion sensor switch or installed on a timer for security purposes. Some models have an integrated motion sensor — this is noted on the product page. For pure security applications, look for fixtures with a wider beam angle and cool white light output.
Some models are dimmable, some are not — this is listed on each product page. Dimmable fixtures require a compatible exterior-rated dimmer switch. Outdoor wall lights can also be wired to a timer, smart switch, or motion sensor for automated control without needing a dimmer.
A fixture flanking a front door should sit at eye level — roughly 5.5–6 feet (1.6–1.8m) from the ground to the centre of the fixture. For a single fixture beside a door, choose a height roughly one third of the door height. For wide garage walls or large exterior facades, consider a wider fixture or two fixtures spaced evenly. Full dimensions are listed on every product page.
