Exterior Pillar Lighting
Layered contemporary form with warm integrated illumination
This modern outdoor pillar light combines a black stainless steel body with an acrylic shade, creating a low-profile architectural fixture for courtyard pillars, garden fences, pathways and entry areas. The layered rectangular composition gives the design visual depth, while the vertically textured illuminated sections introduce a warmer, more decorative element within the clean exterior frame.
Available in Medium and Large sizes, the fixture ranges from W 9.8″ × D 9.8″ × H 6.3″ (W 24.9 × D 24.9 × H 16 cm) to W 15″ × D 15″ × H 9.45″ (W 38.1 × D 38.1 × H 24 cm). Separate hardwired and solar configurations are available, both using integrated LED lighting with warm white 3000K illumination.
Design & Illumination
Low architectural proportions with layered light and shadow
The fixture uses a broad rectangular form with two recessed illuminated sections stacked within the outer frame. This layered arrangement creates depth across the front elevation while keeping the overall silhouette controlled and architectural.
Black stainless steel defines the outer structure and base, while the acrylic shade softens the integrated LED illumination within the recessed sections. The contrast between the dark body and warm light gives the fixture a strong presence after dusk without relying on decorative ornament.
Dimensions
Two square footprints for different pillar scales
The Medium measures 9.8″ × 9.8″ × H 6.3″ (24.9 × 24.9 × H 16 cm), while the Large increases to 15″ × 15″ × H 9.45″ (38.1 × 38.1 × H 24 cm). Both retain the same low-profile architectural character at different scales.
| Variant | Imperial | Metric |

Size Options
Two proportions for different architectural settings
24.9 × 24.9 × H 16 cm. The more compact configuration for smaller posts, pillars and landscape structures.
38.1 × 38.1 × H 24 cm. A substantially broader footprint for larger pillars and stronger architectural presence.
Power Options
Solar convenience or fixed hardwired operation
The solar-powered model uses a 2400mAh rechargeable battery and provides approximately 8–10 hours of illumination under suitable conditions.
The hardwired configuration operates at 110–240V for a fixed mains-powered installation.
Lighting Character
Warm 3000K light within a layered architectural frame
The integrated LED provides warm white 3000K illumination, creating a softer evening tone for courtyards, pathways, garden boundaries and entrance areas.
Acrylic elements diffuse the light within the recessed sections, while the black stainless steel frame introduces shadow lines between the illuminated surfaces for greater visual depth.
Placement
Architectural lighting for pillars, paths and exterior boundaries

Pillar Lights
Common Questions
Pillar lights are fixtures designed to mount on top of or onto the face of brick, stone, or rendered pillars, posts, and gate columns. They're commonly used at driveway entrances, garden gates, fence posts, and courtyard columns — providing both functional lighting and a strong architectural statement at entry points.
Yes. Pillar lights are built for permanent outdoor exposure. Check for an IP44 rating minimum for covered or sheltered pillars, and IP65 or higher for fully exposed installations. The IP rating for each fixture is listed on the product page.
Most pillar lights are hardwired into a 120V (US) or 240V (AU) outdoor circuit, with the cable routed through or along the pillar. Some post-top models sit over a hollow post with wiring fed through the centre. We recommend a licensed electrician for all hardwired outdoor installations.
Most of our pillar lights use integrated LED, so no bulb changes are ever needed. Integrated LEDs are rated for 50,000+ hours. Where a fixture takes a replaceable bulb, the compatible type and fitting size are listed on the product page.
As a general rule, the fixture should be no wider than the pillar face it sits on. Post-top models list the compatible post diameter in their specs. For gate pillars and columns, taller lantern-style fixtures tend to be the most proportionate. Full dimensions are listed on every product page.
A good starting point is matching the finish to your front door hardware — black, brushed nickel, bronze, or brass. Clean geometric profiles suit contemporary homes; lantern shapes suit federation, colonial, or classic brick builds. Coastal and hamptons-style homes generally suit white or brushed nickel with a simple silhouette.
Some models support dimming, some do not — this is listed on each product page. Dimmable fixtures require a compatible outdoor dimmer and may not work with all dimmer brands or smart home systems.
Yes. As long as the fixture is hardwired, it can be controlled by any compatible timer switch, smart switch, or home automation system wired into the same circuit. If you also want brightness control, ensure the fixture is dimmable and paired with a compatible dimmer.
